ThreoAI Projects
Use ThreoAI Projects to organize conversations by topic, client, or workstream - create, rename, and manage project workspaces with dedicated chat context that stays separate from your general chat history.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Projects let you organize your ThreoAI conversations into separate workspaces. Each project maintains its own dedicated conversation area, keeping different topics, clients, or workstreams cleanly separated from your general chat history. Instead of scrolling through a long list of past conversations in the Previous section of the sidebar, you can group related conversations into named projects that act as folders for your AI interactions.
Projects are personal to your account - they are not shared with other users in your organization. Each project you create is visible only to you, and the conversations within it remain private to your workspace.

Creating a New Project
Section titled “Creating a New Project”To create a new project and start organizing your conversations:
- In the left sidebar, locate the Projects section header.
- Click the + button next to the “Projects” section header.
- A text input field appears - enter a descriptive name for your project (for example, “Client Onboarding,” “Q2 Marketing Research,” or “IT Policy Review”).
- Press Enter or click away to confirm the name.
- The new project appears in the sidebar under the Projects section, and its workspace opens in the main area, ready for you to start a conversation.
You can create as many projects as you need. There is no limit on the number of projects per account.
Using a Project
Section titled “Using a Project”Click any project name in the left sidebar to open its workspace. The project workspace looks and functions like the regular ThreoAI chat interface, but all conversations you start within it are scoped to that project.
When you open a project workspace, you will see:
- The project name displayed as the page heading with a folder icon, confirming which project you are working in.
- A chat input at the top of the workspace area where you can start new conversations within the project.
- A list of existing conversations within the project (if you have started any). Each conversation appears as a separate entry that you can click to resume.
- If no conversations exist yet, the message “No conversations found in this project” appears, indicating the workspace is empty and ready for your first conversation.
Starting a Conversation Inside a Project
Section titled “Starting a Conversation Inside a Project”To start a new conversation inside a project:
- Click the project name in the sidebar to open its workspace.
- Type your message in the chat input at the top of the workspace.
- Press Enter to send your message. The conversation begins and is automatically saved inside the project.
All standard chat features are available inside project conversations, including:
- Switching AI models using the model selector in the top-right corner
- Attaching files using the + button in the chat input bar
- Enabling web search from the + menu
- Multi-line messages using Shift + Enter to add line breaks
How Project Conversations Differ from General Chats
Section titled “How Project Conversations Differ from General Chats”The key difference between project conversations and general chats is organization. Conversations started inside a project workspace are grouped under that project and do not appear in your Previous chat history section of the sidebar. This keeps your general chat history clean and focused, while project-specific conversations remain organized within their respective projects.
Conversely, conversations started from the main ThreoAI home screen (outside of any project) appear in the Previous section of the sidebar and are not associated with any project.
Renaming a Project
Section titled “Renaming a Project”If you need to update a project’s name to better reflect its contents or purpose:
- Hover over the project name in the left sidebar.
- A three-dot menu icon appears to the right of the project name.
- Click the three-dot menu icon to open the context menu.
- Select Rename from the menu.
- An inline text editor appears - type the new name for your project.
- Press Enter or click away to save the new name.

The project’s conversations and all their content remain unchanged when you rename a project. Only the display name in the sidebar is updated.
Deleting a Project
Section titled “Deleting a Project”To remove a project you no longer need:
- Hover over the project name in the left sidebar.
- Click the three-dot menu icon that appears.
- Select Delete from the context menu.
- A confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm the deletion.
- Confirm the deletion to permanently remove the project.
Warning: Deleting a project permanently removes the project and all conversations inside it. This action cannot be undone. If you have important conversations in a project, consider renaming the project instead of deleting it, or copy any important information to another location before proceeding with deletion.
Tips for Using Projects Effectively
Section titled “Tips for Using Projects Effectively”Projects are most valuable when you establish a consistent organizational pattern. Here are strategies for getting the most out of them:
- Separate work by client, topic, or workstream. For example, create one project per client (such as “Acme Corp” and “GlobalTech”), or separate projects by function (such as “Research,” “Drafting,” and “Code Review”). This makes it easy to find past conversations related to a specific area of work.
- Use descriptive project names. A name like “Q2 Marketing Campaign - Copy Review” is more useful than “Marketing” when you have multiple projects and need to quickly identify the right one.
- Keep active projects near the top. Since projects appear in the sidebar, the ones you use most frequently are easy to access. Consider archiving or deleting projects you have finished with to keep your sidebar organized.
- Use projects for ongoing engagements. If you regularly have conversations about the same topic over days or weeks, a project keeps all those conversations together in one place, making it easy to pick up where you left off.
- General chats for quick, one-off questions. If you have a quick question that does not belong to any ongoing project, use the main ThreoAI home chat instead. This keeps your projects focused on their intended topics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions”Can I move a conversation from my general chat history into a project? No, conversations cannot be moved between the general Previous history and a project after they have been started. To keep a conversation in a project, start it from within the project workspace.
Can I share a project with other users? No, projects are personal to your account. Other users in your organization cannot see or access your projects. If you need to share the output of a project conversation, copy the relevant content and share it through your organization’s normal communication channels.
Do projects affect how the AI responds? Projects are an organizational feature for your conversations. The AI’s behavior, available models, and capabilities are the same whether you are chatting inside a project or from the main home screen. Each conversation within a project maintains its own independent context, just like conversations in your general chat history.
Is there a limit on the number of conversations inside a project? There is no limit on the number of conversations you can have within a single project.
